This house has been designed for clients planning to build their own home in the Scottish Borders. As a retired couple, the clients require a fully accessible house with single storey living and desire spacious rooms and ample storage. The clients approached Bode with no preset design and an uncertainty over how they wanted the property to look. The site itself provided a good starting point with the client wishing certain rooms to overlook the view of the Eildon Hills and other rooms to the rear for privacy.

My initial conversations with the clients very much focused on how they imagine their dream home, from overall size and room proportions, to room configurations, right down to finishing touches and interior design. From this wish list, a design brief was created and a design proposal stemmed from there.
